JFilmPowWow at Nippon Connection

Eines der Festivalhighlights war natürlich Chris MaGee kennenzulernen, den Godfather of JFilm-Blogging. Er ist der Gründer, Herausgeber und einer der Autoren des sehr lesenswerten JFilmPowWow-Blogs aus Toronto und gemeinsam mit Marc SaintCyr aus Kanada angereist. Chris ist ein besonderer Kenner der Szene und erklärt uns im Interview, was das Besondere am japanischen Film ist:

“They felt that Hollywoodfilms try to be more real than real. And japanese film doesn’t feel the responsibility or need to do that. [...] There are things left unsaid. [...] It’s the fact that not everything has to be explained.”

Zur Zeit sind Chris und Marc wegen isländischer Asche in Europa gestrandet – wir drücken die Daumen, dass sie bald gut nach Toronto zurückkommen und freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen bei NipponConnection 2011.
